About The Role

As the Chief Executive of the EDB, you will be instrumental in scanning the global picture and the local landscape, formulating industrial growth plans, and assisting the government of Pakistan in establishing an efficient and progressive industrial base.

Position Overview

• Job Title: Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
• Pay Scale: MP-I (Management Position Scale) – 186,000/- PP per month.
• Duration of Contract: Three years at the outset, extendable on the basis of satisfactory performance for a further two years.

Eligibility Requirements

Nationality and Age

• The candidates must be Pakistani nationals possessing a valid CNIC.
• Age Requirement: Minimum of forty-five years at the time of making the application.

Educational Background

The applicants will be qualified if they have successfully completed education at least to college level with a degree in one of the fields below.

• Engineering fields, one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering or other related fields therein.
• Management/Policy Fields: relevant fields such as Industrial Economics, Business Administration, Industrial Management, and Industrial Policy management.

Candidates with a Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in these areas will be an added advantage.

Professional Experience

• For Holders Master Degree Holders:

1. A minimum of fifteen (15) years in the sectors of manufacturing, industry development, industry policy formulation, and industry strategy formulation and implementation.
2. Out of these five years, I must have served in a management position within either a reputable national or an international institution.

• For Holders Ph D:

1. Relevant employment not less than ten (10) years in the areas mentioned above.
2. Working experience of not less than five years in either in a managerial or executive designated position in an established organization.

Key Skills and Knowledge

Such applicants are expected to possess the following skills:

• Understanding of the connections and synergies of climate change and its impact on the various sectors.
• Excellent management skills that would help in forming strong teams and leading them.
• Both oral and written communication in Urdu and English.

Primary Responsibilities

In the position of the EDB’s CEO, you would be entrusted with the following duties:

• Strategic Vision:

1. Devising and implementing sound industrial strategies that are in unison with the economic objectives of Pakistan.

• Stakeholder Collaboration:

1. Fostering cooperation with the government, private business circles, educational institutions, and foreign partners for the industrial development of Pakistan.

• Policy Advocacy and Technical Leadership:

1. Looking over the establishment of industrial achievements and accomplishment of goals that promote technology, meaning, and quality in the country’s manufacturing industry.
2. Pursuing and creating favorable conditions for introducing and modernizing the industry towards new developments and change.

• Investment Promotion:

1. Encourage meritorious national and foreign investments in strategic sectors of Pakistan’s economy, transfer new technologies, and create a readiness for speedup of economic globalization.

• Operational Management:

1. Managing and controlling the functional core of the EDB, including the financial component, distribution of resources, and formation of teams.

• Capacity Building:

1. Enhancing the knowledge and turning factors for change to result in overdependence on technology.
   Forming alliances with local stakeholders in order to disseminate best practices and new technologies in Pakistan’s industry sector.
